Alice Kitt, (1940-2007) founded Guardianship Alliance of Colorado (GAC) in response to being told to institutionalize her developmentally disabled son. Kitt wanted a program that worked to ensure choices and protection for all who need Guardianship services.

For more than 30 years, GAC has made sure that Colorado families have access to resources regarding guardianship for at-risk adults.

Without a guardian, an individual may be denied appropriate benefits, healthcare, housing and social activities.

These are critical services our community can’t afford to lose.

In (FYI 2008,) Ability Connection Colorado (ACCO), a parent-driven nonprofit committed to keeping GAC as an ongoing Program to ensure the future of Guardianship services as well as sustain Kitt’s legacy.
