Colorado Department of Education Family Information and Resources – Learn more about special education in Colorado and ways to partner with your child’s school or become involved in special education
initiatives.

One-Stop-Shop to Access School & District Data – Web page that provides a wide variety of school and district information. School districts are sorted alphabetically, with links to schools within each district.

The pages include contact information (including local school district web links), assessment data and results including both Colorado Student Assessment Program and Colorado Growth Model data, Adequate Yearly Progress results, post-secondary readiness data including graduation rates and information about highly qualified teachers and teacher experience.

Administrative Unit State Performance Plan Indicator Profiles IDEA 2004 requires each state to report to the public on each Administrative Unit’s (School District or BOCES) performance compared to state targets and state performance for 14 indicators from the State Performance Plan (SPP). Indicators reported to the public are a mixture of performance and compliance indicators.

All About Me – templates that anyone can use to create a booklet that provides new teachers/school personnel key information about your child (their new student) in a visually appealing format.  Although these resources were originally developed for students on the autism spectrum, it could be adopted for any student.

Additional Choices in Education: CDE’s Choice and Innovation Unit seeks to expand the number of high
quality educational choices for Colorado families and students, and promotes thoughtful innovations that
will prepare Colorado students to be 21st century adults. Information on public school choice options like
charter schools, innovation school, and blended and online learning as well as home school and non-public
(private & parochial) school options.

Choosing and Starting School:  Articles on Understood.org about different alternatives in schooling.

School Choice for Kids: Colorado kids can “open enroll” into hundreds of public schools. The steps on this
webpage will guide you in the process of finding and open enrolling your child in a public school outside of
your attendance area.

Schools and MedicaidColorado districts can claim for Medicaid covered services that are provided in
schools. The Colorado Department of Education provides training for developing the local services plans
required for participation in this program. This site provides guidance and resources. Scroll to the bottom of
